TECH RIDER
for "Modern Stage Magic" & "The Magic Factory"

To help assure a successful performance for both VINCENT MAGIC PRODUCTIONS and your audience, please take a moment to review the following technical requirements for this production. If your theater is especially large please contact us for a lighting plot and cue sheet. If we are using your light system, please have instruments mounted and approximately focused prior to our arrival to expedite the set-up process. In most instances, however, VINCENT MAGIC PRODUCTIONS lighting and sound system will be suitable.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Electrical Requirements

    1. Three (3) separate 110 volt 20 amp grounded circuits within 50 feet of center stage. Please note that not only separate outlets but also separate circuits are necessary to avoid overload and interference from sound and light equipment. As our dimmer board cannot compensate for reversed polarity on circuits, please identify the above circuits that are without reversed polarity with a polarity tester.

    2. Please have a custodian available at arrival time to help locate circuits, electrical panels, etc.

  2. Space Requirements

    1. The performance space must be an elevated stage with working stage curtains and wing space to accommodate prop storage.

    2. Performing area must be at least 22' width x 20' depth x 10' height.

    3. Stage and wings must be clean and free of sets, risers, platforms, music stands, chairs and other objects before performers arrive for setup.

    4. Stage and wings must be swept and mopped prior to the performer's arrival.
  3. Facility Requirements

    1. There should be one changing room within 50 feet of the performance area and access to both men's and women's restrooms.

    2. Performers must have access to the performance space at least three (3) hours prior to the performance start time to allow for set up and proper preparations.

    3. Please provide access to fresh water, as there are several small animals involved in the performance.

    4. Please Note: Several pyrotechnic effects as well as a haze generator may be utilized during the performance. Please make arrangements regarding the smoke detectors in the performance area to accommodate.

    5. VINCENT MAGIC PRODUCTIONS shows are best viewed in a darkened performance space. If one is not available, please make arrangements to cover windows to block out as much light as possible to give the audience the best presentation.

    6. Wireless microphones are used in the majority of the performance. While the relative transmission range is set for less than 500 feet, it may represent a problem with interference in isolated cases. Please contact us if your electrical circuitry is serving an internal cable network or if the stage is in close proximity to a radio station, police station or other transmission.

All of these productions were designed and produced for performance at Medieval/Renaissance festivals, but play equally well at most outdoor events and in theatre settings.

  1. Space Requirements
    1. The performance area must be at least 20' width x 14' depth x 12' height.

    2. For outdoor stages, there MUST be a covered storage space, directly adjacent to the performance area, for the storage and protection of props.

    3. Stage must be clean and free of sets, risers, platforms, music stands, chairs and other objects before performers arrive for set up.

    4. Stage and wings must be swept and mopped prior to the performers' arrival.

  2. Facility Requirements

    1. There should be one changing room within 50 feet of the performance area and access to both men's and women's restrooms.

    2. Performers must have access to the performance space at least two (2) hours prior to the performance start time to allow for set up and proper preparations.

    3. Please note: Pyrotechnic effects may be utilized during the performance. Please make arrangements regarding the smoke detectors in the performance area to accommodate.

  3. Lighting Requirements

    1. In most theatre situations, a three-color wash arrangement is sufficient. There is no need for any "specials". In general, Rosco filters are preferable, but substitutions are acceptable.

    2. Gel colors are as follows:
      • R04 Med. Bastard Amber
      • R65 Daylight Blue
      • R114 Hamburg Frost

    3. If using your lighting system, please have instruments hung and approximately focused prior to our arrival to expedite the set-up process.

    4. If your theatre is especially large, please contact us for a light plot and cue sheet.

  4. Sound Requirements

    1. Wireless microphones are used in the majority of the performance. While the relative transmission range is set for less than 500 feet, it may represent a problem with interference in isolated cases. Please contact us if your electrical circuitry is serving an internal cable network, or if the stage is in close proximity to a radio station, police station or other transmission.

for "The Eclectic CirCus"

To help assure a successful performance for both "The Eclectic CirCus" and your audience, please take a moment to review the following technical requirements for this production. After booking confirmation, a lighting plot and cue sheet will be forwarded to you. Please have all lighting instruments mounted and approximately focused prior to our arrival, to expedite the set-up process. Please note that a lighting board operator AND a sound operator will be required for the performance.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Electrical & Lighting Requirements

    1. The lighting plot for this production is designed for a system containing 24 X 1.5K dimmers minimum. However, 24 X 2.4K or greater is preferred. The lighting consists of general color washes and side lighting, as well as several precision focused specials.

    2. Vincent Magic Productions will be bringing in several additional lighting instruments for use in the production. These instruments have edison-type plugs and will require adaptors to patch into your lighting system.

    3. A memory controller for lighting is preferable. However, two-scene preset operation is acceptable, provided a qualified operator is present.

    4. A fog machine will be utilized during the performance, which will require a non-dim electrical line, to be positioned at center stage, behind the farthest upstage traveler curtain.

    5. In general, Rosco color filters are preferable, but substitutions are acceptable.

    6. Gel colors are as follows:
      • R04 Medium Bastard Amber
      • R27 Medium Red
      • R46 Magenta
      • R49 Medium Purple
      • R80 Primary Blue
      • R95 Medium Blue Green
      • R114 Hamburg Frost

    7. Please have technical people or custodians who are familiar with the operations of the facility present at arrival time to help locate circuits, electrical panels, etc.

  2. Space Requirements
    1. The performance space requires the following stage curtains:

      • One full-stage traveler curtain or black drop curtain, hung mid to 3/4 stage, creating an upstage crossover/prop area.

      • At least two sets of leg curtains.
      • A main curtain is NOT required for this performance.

    2. Performance area must be at least 22' width X 20' depth X 12' height.

    3. Two (2) "on-stage" dressing rooms or quick change rooms, located upstage left and upstage right, behind the traveler curtain, or in the wing area. Each room must accommodate two (2) performers. Each room must contain make-up tables and mirrors, two chairs and costume rack.

    4. Two (2) prop tables, each 6' in length, will be required for the performance. Tables should be in place, behind traveler curtain, prior to performers' arrival.

    5. Two (2) folding chairs will be required. They should be in place behind the traveler curtain prior to performers' arrival.

    6. If your stage is an elevated platform, please be sure to have stair units in place, as the performance will involve audience participation and will require that performers, as well as audience volunteers, move freely and safely from the audience to the stage.

    7. Stage and wings must be clean and free of sets, risers, platforms, music stands and other objects BEFORE performers arrive for set-up.

    8. Stage and wings must be swept and mopped prior to performers' arrival.

  3. Sound Requirements

    1. If using your sound system, please note that a minimum of six (6) channels are required for this performance. Four (4) channels are used for wireless microphones and two (2) channels are used to accommodate a CD player or laptop computer.

    2. Wireless microphones are used in the majority of the performance. While the relative transmission range is set for less than 500 feet, it may represent a problem with interference in isolated cases. Please contact us if your electrical circuitry is serving an internal cable network or if the stage is in close proximity to a radio station, police station, or other transmission.

    3. If using your sound system, please note that a CD player is required for playback of music and sound effects. A machine that is of high quality and in good working order is necessary so that cues can be started with no delay time.

  4. Facility Requirements

    1. Performers must have access to the facility five (5) hours prior to the performance start time to allow for set-up, rehearsal and proper preparations.

    2. The facility must provide two (2) qualified technicians to operate lighting and sound for the performance. These individuals must be familiar with the facility's sound and lighting equipment and must be available at the time of the performers' arrival, for programming and rehearsal.

    3. In addition to lighting and sound operators, three (3) stage hands must be available to help with load-in and set up of production, as well as load-out, after the performance.

    4. Please note: several pyrotechnic effects, as well as a fog generator, may be utilized during the performance. Please make arrangements regarding smoke detectors in the performance area to accommodate. Additionally, fire juggling may be performed as part of the production. If fire is not allowed in your facility, please inform us prior to the performance date.

    5. "The Eclectic CirCus" is best viewed in a darkened performance space. If one is not available, please make arrangements to block out as much light as possible, to give your audience the best presentation.
